Nairobi: Gang of 6 arrested in Fuata Nyayo slums, police recover homemade firearm

A gang of six suspected robbers is expected to be arraigned in court after police recovered two homemade firearms, and one round of 9mm ammunition from their hideout.

Officers who were acting on a tip-off from members of the public raided the house of the first suspect identified as Samson Wambugu where the six were found in the Fuata Nyayo slums of Makadara constituency, Nairobi.

The police recovered the two homemade guns, one round of ammo, and a bolt cutter.
The six include 19-year-old Samson Wambugu who was the owner of the house, David Kamau(Rams) aged 20, Dennis Muthiani alias Denchu aged 19, Collins Macharia alias Kim aged 18, Calid Juma alias Kali aged 17 years and David Irung’u alias Davi aged 20.

“Police raided the house of Samson Wambugu in the Fuata Nyayo Estate, Nairobi South ward, and arrested a gang of six suspected robbers. Upon search, 2 homemade pistols with one round of 9mm ammunition and a bolt cutter were recovered from the suspects,” the police report seen by K24 Digital read in part.

In another separate incident, a notorious criminal Jared Nengane Namayi alias ‘Reja’ was arrested on Monday, October 3, 2022 night in sewer line Kibera.

Officers who were acting on a tip-off from members of the public raided his house and found him in the house.

“While acting on a tip-off from members of the public, officers arrested Jared Nengane alias Reja in his house sewer line Kibera and they recovered 4 motorbike number plates of registration number KMFG 778V, six mobile phones of make 1 Samsung and 2 Itel, Four wrist watches, 4 Nokia phones,3 machetes, and a sword,” the police report stated.

The suspect was placed in custody and the items were kept as exhibits when he will be arraigned in court.
