Four Mt. Kenya Cabinet Secretaries have been grilled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers over alleged plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Industrialisation CS Peter Munya confirmed the summons, but denied the allegations saying the officers did not have written complaint from the deputy president.

“It is irresponsible, unfair and intended to portray us in a very bad light,” he said adding that they would decide on what action to take once investigations are complete.

CS Munya, CS Joe Mucheru (ICT), CS Sicily Kariuki (Health) and three other Permanent Secretaries reported at the DCI headquarters in the morning after being summoned by detective Michael Sang.

“The officers have confirmed to us that the DP made a call and complained that some CSs and other senior government officials have been meeting at La Mada Hotel and specifically on 14 May, to plan how to kill him,” CS Munya said.

The three, except CS James Macharia who was also said to have been summoned, reported at the DCI headquarters accompanied by the Secretary for Delivery and Head of Presidential Delivery Unit Andrew Wakahiu, Petroleum PS Andrew Kamau, and Energy PS Eng. Joseph Njoroge.

Addressing the media after leaving the DCI headquarters CS Munya said they had made it clear that at no time had they met anywhere to plan to kill the DP.
