Former Kenya Revenue Authority commissioner general Njiraini among NLC jobs hopefuls

Former Kenya Revenue Authority  commissioner general John Njiraini is among candidates for the National Land Commission (NLC) chairperson.

Others shortlisted for the NLC jobs interviews include politicians who lost in the last General Election. 

Renowned lawyers, land economists, retired, and serving parastatal chiefs and the wife of a Cabinet secretary are also on the list of key figures who will be battling out for the nine positions which include NLC chairperson post.

In a media advert on Tuesday, the NLC selection panel announced that it had 11 nominees to be interviewed for the chairman’s position and 50 others as members of the commission.

They include former Labour and Social Services Cabinet secretary Kazungu Kambi, his former PS Khadijah Kassachon and Labour CS Ukur Yattani’s spouse Dr Gumato.

Applicants picked

Others are immediate former chair for Centre for Multiparty Democracy (CMD) and South Murigango MP James Omingo Magara, former Tharaka MP Alex Mwiru.

Former MPs Humphrey Njuguna (Gatanga), Esther Murugi (Nyeri Town) and Tiya Galgalo (Isiolo) are also on the list as are current legislators, Mong’are Okong’o (Senator, Nyamira), Boniface Otsiula (Bumula) and Francis Nderitu (Ndaragwa).

According to the panel, the 11 applications were chosen from a pool of 117 who applied for the position of chairperson and 940 applicants for the position of as member.
