Kenyan international goalkeeper Patrick Matasi has been hospitalized after being involved in a car accident at Lessos on Kapsabet-Nakuru road.

The former AFC Leopards goalie together with four others were rushed to Kapsabet hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Speaking to K24 Digital via phone call, the doctor who attended them says Matasi has been discharged and his father who suffered minor head injuries has been transferred to Kakamega district hospital.

Further information indicates that their three-year-old son suffered fatal injuries as well as the goalie's wife.

"Among the five involved in the accident, their three-year-old son was the most injured," the nurse noted.

The 34-year old is said to have lost control of the car with the tyre bursting before rolling off the road.

They were travelling from Kakamega to Nairobi at the time of the accident.

Matasi played for several Kenyan football clubs before signing a contract with the Ethiopian Premier League side Saint George SC in 2018.
