A 20-year-old man from Kisii Town on Thursday, October 15 committed suicide by hanging after an argument with his mother.

Nehemiah Mogaka, who is a Form Four student at a local school, took supper upon returning home. However, he had a stick of bhang in his mouth, prompting his mother, Evelyne Mogaka, to question him. The resultant argument, Evelyne says, could have pushed Mogaka into suicidal ideation.

“After our quarrel, my son left for bed. However, today morning (Friday, October 16), while at the market in Kisii Town, I was called and told that my son’s body was found hanging from a rope tied to a tree near our home,” said Evelyne Mogaka.

Nehemiah’s body was taken to a Kisii hospital morgue for preservation awaiting burial.
