One of the dormitories at Nyamira Boys High School in Nyamira South Sub-county was Saturday evening razed down by fire.

Confirming the incident, Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba said the fire started at 8pm.

"Property was destroyed but luckily no one was injured, " Mariba said.

Mariba added that the fire was put out by the county fire-brigade whom he credited for quick response.

Cause of the inferno is yet to be established.

Nyamira Boys becomes the third school to experience fire incidents in the Kisii region.

On Saturday morning, a dormitory at Kakamega High School was brought down by fire.

Students were in class undertaking their morning studies.

Authorities were able to make it to the scene on time, quelling the fire that had brought properties of unknown value to ashes.

The school authority suspected a group of rowdy students were responsible for the arson.
