A burial ceremony in Kibengei Ward in Bungoma County turned chaotic after a fight broke out and brought the whole function to a standstill for minutes.

The fighting incident erupted after Kimilili MP DIdmus Barasa was snatched a microphone by a man alleged to be an aid to Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati.

In video footage accessed by K24 Digital, a man is recorded moving towards where MP Barasa was addressing mourners from, confronts him and forcefully snatches the microphone from him.

The move resulted in a push and pull after supporters of the MP were recorded confronting the alleged Governor's aid as others began engaging him in a fistfight.

Attempts by a group of men to calm irate supporters of the MP were futile as angry youths were recorded baying for the blood of the alleged Governor's aid.

The MP asked authorities to arrest the alleged aid to the Governor as attempts to bring the funeral to order appeared futile.

" Let him be arrested and be taken to a police station or we take action as citizens," the MP is heard talking in the video footage.

The MP was forced to intervene and urged the irate youths to cool down.

MP Barasa got hold of the man under threat of his supporters and took him to safety.

Sources privy to the incident told K24 Digital that the man was angered by MP Barasa's move to castigate the Bungoma Governor whom he accused of corruption.

The MP was recorded supporting the impeachment of Governor Wangamati, saying he has failed in his leadership as the Governor of the area.
