Residents of Kagaa village in Kenol Maragua, Murang'a county are reeling in shock after they found a mutilated body of a middle-aged woman dumped near Kagaa Secondary School.

The body was discovered by the students who were going to school who then alerted the neighbours and the teachers.

Mary Wanjiru, one of the residents said she saw the students mill around the scene where the body had been dumped and they went to check what was happening.

“We looked closely and saw it was a human body which had been wrapped in a sack,” she said.

The body, she said was of a middle-aged woman but the residents could not recognize her.

Joseph Maina, another resident said the body had been cut into three pieces and it was a horrible scene to look at.

“The body has been cut along the waistline, slightly above the chest and the pieces wrapped together in a sack,” he said.

Further, he said they suspect that the woman had been killed elsewhere and her body dumped there adding that there was a trail of blood leading to the main Kenol-Murang’a road.

“We could clearly see the trail of blood along the footpath but when we got to the main road it disappeared,” he said.

Margaret Wanja, another resident said the incident has instilled fear among the residents adding that they have never witnessed such a horrible murder.

“We are scared because we don’t know who did this and why and if they could also be targeting any of us here,” she said.

The residents urged police officers to beef up security in the area and to conduct speedy investigations into the matter.

The body was moved to Murang’a County mortuary awaiting postmortem.
