A lion was on Wednesday morning spotted hiding near a residential plot in Ong’ata Rongai.

Witnesses say that officers attached to Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) are already at the scene.

In photos that made rounds on social media on Wednesday morning, the lion is spotted hiding within two buildings lying in a muddy place.

Brian Kimani a local said that police officers managed to disperse a crowd that had gathered around the building to have a glimpse of the carnivore.

“Police have dispersed a crowd that had gathered around the building to have a glimpse of the lion,” he said.

The lion was spotted by a group of minors who were playing outside the compound.

This is not the first time a lion is being spotted in Rongai. About one year ago, a man was mulled by a lion in Rongai and people only learnt about the incident when it was feeding on the remains of his body.

In 2019, KWS announced that it had kicked off a search for stray lions within Rongai.

Residents in Rongai have been living in fear over the stray lions that have been making rounds in the town located in Kajiado County.

This even prompted locals to restrict movements between 9 am and 5 pm.
