A middle-aged man was today charged in court for vandalising his father's property.

Ahmed Hussein Mohammed was taken to court by his parents after he damaged a hotel owned by his father just because he missed his favourite dish of Samosa.

Hussein was charged with malicious damage when he appeared before Kibera Magistrate Derrick Kuto.

The court heard that Hussein unlawfully and wilfully damaged property worth Ksh 21,600.

"Hussein unlawfully and wilfully damaged a food display glass, a mobile phone and three melanin cups all valued at Ksh 21,600 the property of his father Hussein Mohammed Ahmed on October 29, 2021, at Nairobi west in Langata Sub-County” reads the charged sheet in part.

It is alleged that morning at around 10:00 am, Hussein checked into his father’s hotel and met the staff serving clients. He took a seat and asked for hot Samosas, only to be told that they were over.

He demanded fresh samosa's to be made, but he was notified that they were already out of stock. This is said to have angered him and proceeded to break the food display glass where the said items were kept.

One of the staff quickly called Hussein's father and who is their boss to intervene because the customers were afraid and those who were waiting to be served immediately left.

When the accused father arrived at the hotel, he found it messy because the broken items were scattered on the floor, posing danger to the occupants.

His father immediately called the police from Akila station, who assessed the damages and arrested him. He was released by the court on a cash bail of Ksh 30,000 or an alternative bond of Ksh 100,000.

The matter shall be mentioned on November 17, 2021.
