Rose Ng'asura who was found stabbed in her house in the Chepkumia location in Nandi county is set to be laid to rest in her Kiprambu home even though police are yet to bring to book her killers.
The 53-year-old woman was stabbed in her chest by unknown persons at around 3 am on February 14, 2023, while she was sleeping in her house.
According to a postmortem conducted at White Crescent hospital in Kapsabet town, the deceased died from excessive bleeding caused by a sharp object which was used to stab her in the left chest where it penetrated into the heart.

"We are still in shock that someone can just lose her life that way. We recorded statements with the police and DCI began investigations. But what we want as a family is thorough investigations and the perpetrators to be brought to book now. We deserve and we want justice," Rev Simon Nyoros said.
There has been tension in the Chepkumia location from area residents who have also been questioning how the police have conducted the investigation as nobody has been arrested almost 2 weeks since the woman was murdered.
"Why are our security agents hesitant to deal with this matter once and for all? Don't they have the equipment as well as the techniques to investigate such a crime? What if tomorrow the same thing happens to another resident? So we will be just calling for justice tomorrow? Somebody is buried and become a forgotten story? No No our Directorate of Criminal Investigations need to give us justice as residents of the Chepkumia location so that such crimes cannot be witnessed again in the future," Jacob Maiyo, a resident, said.
Just a few days after the murder of the woman, police began an investigation promising to bring the perpetrators to book.
Speaking to K24 Digital, one of the DCI officers said the investigating team were on the ground to establish the real cause of Rose Ng'asura's death
"Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) has picked up the issue, statements recorded and file ready to be submitted to ODPP," the officer who sought anonymity said.
There have been a number of insecurity incidents reported in the Chepkumia location in Emgwen, Nandi county. Residents have now called on area administration to up their game on matters pertaining to the security of residents.
"Many incidents have happened not only such killings but also cattle theft, hens stealing and shops being broken into in different centres. Recently in Kiptamogoi village, a form four student was also assaulted to death. Cows are being stolen like hell in Kalyet, Koibem, Kibungu and various parts of our area. Chief, the assistant chiefs and village elder need to wake up," Richard Busienei, a resident, said.
