Police are hunting down for a middle-aged woman who is alleged to have disappeared with a 3-year-old girl in Kariobangi.

Joy Waithera was reported missing at Kariobangi Police Station on Thursday last week.

According to the father David Maina, a woman is said to have lured the girl away from the flat where they reside down to a shop to buy her something sweet.

The father was still at work when the incident happened.

Prior to luring the girl, the woman is said to have made her way to the third floor of the flat and pretended to be visiting the washroom.

The mother Mary Wanjiku says she was informed by the kids who were playing with Joy that the woman came out of the washroom and went down the stairs with Joy who was playing with them after promising to buy her candies.

Joy's family resides on the second floor of the flat.

Wanjiku says the CCTV footage of the incident showed Joy following the woman while in the company of two kids.

Joy however went away with the woman as the two kids remained behind.

Wanjiku is now appealing to anyone with information regarding Joy to reach out to them since her missing is causing them pain.

According to the father Maina, the family has encountered sleepless night as a result of the incident.

“Since the girl went missing, this house has no peace. Even her sister has kept asking us when her sister will be back. We can’t eat, we can’t sleep. We are unable to establish whether our daughter is safe or not,” Maina said.

The incident comes in the wake of several cases of kidnapping in the country that has seen several kids found dead days after disappearing.
