Ex-boyfriend bites off 25-year-old woman’s nose in revenge attack

A 25-year-old woman from Bulanda in Matayos Constituency, Busia County is recuperating at the Busia County Referral Hospital after her ex-boyfriend bit off her nose on Thursday night (March 12).

Sepha Kerubo said her ex-lover stormed her rented house in Bulanda and grabbed her by the neck with the intention of strangling her.

“I screamed so as to raise the alarm. It was then that he bit off the lower part of my nose and spat it out before escaping,” Kerubo told K24 Digital.

Neighbours, who arrived at the scene, found Kerubo bleeding profusely and rushed her to hospital.

Kerubo said she had separated from the suspect one month ago after spending two years with him as his girlfriend.

The two were living under the same roof before Kerubo moved out following their February 2020 break-up.

The victim said her spurned ex-boyfriend had been pestering her to reunite with him, but she was not ready to entertain his request, hence the attack.

Doctors at the Busia County Referral Hospital told K24 Digital that Kerubo was in a stable condition, though it won’t be possible to reattach the severed part of her nose.

Kerubo will have to undergo plastic surgery to have her deformed nose shaped, said the doctors.

Police say they have launched a hunt for the victim’s ex-lover.
