Police have arrested Emurua-Dikir MP Johanna Ngeno and Olulunga Ward Representative Jefferson Lang’at.

The two were seized at Olmekenyu on Tuesday while on their way to Mau Forest where they planned to assess if learning has been affected in 15 schools ordered shut by the government.

“We have committed no crime by visiting the schools. And we had not yet reached the forest,” Ngeno told Emoo FM on the phone.

The order to close the schools came as the government seeks to evict about 60,000 people from the Mau Forest complex.

Police took the duo to Narok Police Station.
