An aged woman in Dallas estate in Embu has appealed to Kenyans to help her locate a middle-aged woman who abandoned her eight months old baby boy under her care after tricking her.

The elderly woman who is a food vendor in Embu town was caught up in the mix on Sunday, August 21, 2022, when a woman approached her while she was preparing food for her customers and requested that she carries her son for a while so that she can relieve herself in a church toilet which was just near where they were.

Dorothy Kari, who is now mothering the eight months old baby boy, did not object to the request but instead agreed to watch over the boy so that her mother could attend to the washrooms.

Little did she know the lady was on a mission to abandon the boy for reasons unknown to her.

Kari narrated how the lady came back after reliving herself but further requested her to continue watching after the baby so that he could rush to the church which is just a stone's throw from where they were to collect the baby's clothes so that she could change the baby.

"The lady did not look suspicious so I accepted to watch over her baby since I was there. I did not know she was to leave the baby under my care," Kari narrated.

The stressed elderly woman now says that she has closed her business to take care of the child who needs attention always.

She urged members of the public who may have information on the whereabouts of the mother to report to the nearest police station so that they can be reunited.

“I am calling on the public to help me trace the mother of this child have closed my business to take care of him. The lady spoke in Kimbeere dialect," She said.

Kari recalled how the lady told her that she came from Kiminda in Mbeere South Subcounty.

The caretaker has since reported the matter to the chief.
