A middle-aged driver is expected to be arraigned in Court on Thursday, September 15, 2022, after he assaulted a traffic police officer in Embakasi on Wednesday.

The motorist became violent after he was instructed by the officer to stop blocking other motorists in the Embakasi area of Nairobi.

According to the police report seen by K24 Digital, the suspect identified as Peter Okemwa had blocked other road users after he wrongly parked his vehicle on the road.

The traffic officer Erustas Makenda then instructed him to remove the vehicle from the point but he instead came out of the vehicle and insulted the cop.

"While controlling traffic near the Total Petrol station in Embakasi, CPL Erastus Makenda instructed the driver of a Mercedes motor vehicle registration number KCC 885U to remove the vehicle from where he had parked as he was obstructing other users. He did not move and instead came out and started assaulting the officer," the police report seen by K24 Digital read in part.

He hit the officer with a fist on the mouth which resulted in losing his lower teeth.

"In the process, he hit the officer with a fist on the mouth resulting in the loss of his front lower teeth," the police report added.

Reinforcement was called in and the driver was arrested and escorted to Embakasi police station where he was locked.

The officer was rushed to Nairobi West hospital where he was treated and discharged in a fair condition.

In a separate incident, an officer attached to the Dandora police station is expected to be arraigned in court today after he was accused of assaulting and causing actual bodily harm.

Sergeant Edukon Lonai is expected to be charged at the Milimani Law courts today after he was arrested by officers from the Internal Affairs Unit on Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
