The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned a dead man, Odongo Joanes Andiego, over graft allegations.

Andiego, who was the Majority Whip in the Siaya County Assembly, died on May 17 last year after a long battle with kidney and liver complications.

Andiego was part of the 41 MCAs from Siaya, who allegedly pocketed Ksh200, 000 each for a February 2019 Uganda trip that they, apparently, did not attend.

According to EACC, the deceased alongside Oriaro Leonard, Otare James and Francis Otieno are scheduled for interrogation on August 19.

The other ward reps are expected to appear before the detectives at the EACC offices in Kisumu from Monday next week.

A total of taxpayers’ Ksh8.2 million was allegedly embezzled in the controversial trip.

According to a letter from the agency dated July 31, 2019, addressed to the assembly clerk, the MCAs have been asked to bring, with them their original travel documents (passport) which they used during the said-trip in February.

Following the summoning of Andiego, who is no longer alive, the EACC became a subject of ridicule on instant messaging platform, WhatsApp, with users inquiring who does a fact-check on the names of graft suspects before they are forwarded to the Commission for appropriate action.
