Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced that motorists using the Kenol - Sagana - Marua - Nyeri road (A2) are allowed to use the dual carriageway section between Kenol town and Kambiti.

In a statement on Friday, December 23, the authority noted the road is accessible during the festive season saying this "measure is aimed at enhancing traffic flow in anticipation of heavy traffic during this period."

KeNHA further asked motorists to adhere to traffic rules and avoid overlapping.

"The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) advises motorists using the Kenol - Sagana - Marua - Nyeri road (A2) that the dual carriageway section between Kenol town and Kambiti has been opened to traffic during the festive season. Motorists are encouraged to strictly adhere to traffic signs, observe lane discipline, and avoid speeding and overlapping which may result in accidents and unnecessary inconveniences," the statement read.

Traffic buildup

At the same time, KeNHA has cautioned motorists of traffic buildup along the Nairobi Nakuru highway due to increased travelling in the run-up to the Christmas holiday.

The traffic had been steadily building up between Gilgil town and the rail over the road bridge.

"KeNHA wishes to notify motorists plying or planning to use the Nairobi - Nakuru (A8) Highway of a traffic buildup between Gilgil town and the rail over road bridge as people travel for the festive season. Motorists are advised to exercise road courtesy and are further urged to avoid overlapping as it will cause unnecessary delays," the statement read.
