A drunk female Nairobi City Inspectorate Officer ‘Kanjo’ attached to Green Park Bus Terminus has been captured on video harassing patrons in an unidentified restaurant.

The intoxicated officer goes ahead and gives her personal employment number, identifying herself as an Inspector attached to Green Park Bus Terminus, Nairobi.

“Record me. I am an Inspector of Police attached to Nairobi County,” she is captured saying.

She goes ahead and grabs a female patron’s phone, while uttering expletives, and gives her personal employment number.

"The number indicates that she was recruited in the year 2020.
“Don’t touch my phone again,” the woman is heard complaining.

A man, whom she refers to as an intimate partner, is also captured intervening but she dismisses him saying “I have powers to arrest!”

“Go and read Nairobi County by-laws. I am an enforcement officer. I am allowed to search her phone, search her bag. I am allowed even to arrest you,” she says even as the female patron protests.

Nairobi Central OCPD David Baariu has however dismissed that the lady is a City Inspectorate employed by the County Government of Nairobi attached to Green Park’s CCTV section.

"The lady is a direct entry Inspectorate team employed in 2020 by Nairobi County Government," David said.

Speaking to K24 Digital, Nairobi County Chief Security and Compliance Chief Officer D. Mark Leleruk said they have launched investigations into the incident as there is no law that allows the Kanjos to cause intimidation, disturbance, and harassment of other Kenyans.

“There is no law that allows others to harass others. We are yet to investigate the extent of harassment but we have already begun investigations,” Leleruk stated.

“Nairobi County by-Laws establish the existence of the City Inspectorate as she says they have all those powers but they do not have powers to cause disturbance and harassment of other Kenyans and so that is unlawful,” he added.
