Driver who killed daughter of Deputy IG arraigned in court

KMO Sacco driver who caused the death of the daughter of Deputy IG has been arraigned in court and detained for 4 days at Central Police Station.

Patrick Macharia Magu was arrested on June 17, 2021, for the allegations of having committed an offence of causing death by dangerous driving contrary to the law.

"That at the time of the offence, the suspect was the driver of motor vehicle KBR 065B make Isuzu minibus operated by KMO Sacco along the junction of Tom Mboya street and Maragua lane where he reversed the motor vehicle dangerously without due care to other road users and sandwiched a pedestrian by the name Nelly Waithera aged 25 years between another motor vehicle KBL 744A" read the application read. 

Inspector Peter Ndirangu told Magistrate Esther Kimilu that the victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital where she succumbed to the said injuries while undergoing treatment.

The driver, after realising his mistakes abandoned the motor vehicle to avoid arrest. He was traced along the University Way and arrested.

The investigating officer requested four days to complete investigations into the matter.

He told the court that the postmortem has not been done and that they are waiting for the results before preferring any charges against the suspect.
