United Democratic Alliance (UDA) deputy presidential candidate Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that he is a teetotaler, a trait that he says will enable him to serve Kenyans diligently if elected.

Speaking during the Deputy Presidential debate on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, Gachagua said that his background in the private and public sectors has prepared him well to be the Deputy President if elected.

I come from a background of management, I have been in public service for 15 years, I have been in the private sector for 15 years, I have been in legislation for five years. I am a hardworking man, I am very passionate, I have zeal to serve, I am an active man, I wake up early, I don't take alcohol, I have all the time and the commitment to put my all to serve the people of Kenya," Gachagua said.

Gachagua also revealed that he has been assigned to handle the economic sector in the UDA manifesto. He refuted claims of a possible fallout between him and William Ruto if elected into office.

"In my case and Willam Ruto, a fall-out will not happen. Both of us are strong-willed leaders who respect each other and none of us suffers from inferiority complex. At no time will William Ruto punish or mistreat me because he has no reason to. I'll support him and he will reciprocate the support. We agreed that we have no time to quarrel or disagree," Gachagua said.
