Police have arrested a primary school deputy headteacher for allegedly defiling a Standard Seven pupil at Nandi Hills town, Nandi County.

The teacher, Felix Murgor, 41, and the pupil were taken for a medical examination at Nandi Hills Sub-County Hospital.

Nandi Hills Sub-County Police Commander Francis Omulo confirmed the arrest, adding that the suspect had locked the girl in one of the lodgings in the town

"It was reported by one Assistant Chief of Kelbui sub-location that there was a school-going child who entered one lodging within Nandi Hills town.

"Police officers from this end rushed and found the two in room two where it was established that the man aged 41 years was a primary deputy headteacher in a neighbouring school and a primary school pupil aged 14 years," Omulo said.

He added: "They were both arrested and taken to Nandi Hills Police Station awaiting medical examination and further police action. In short, we are holding a teacher accused of locking a student in a lodging where we suspect to have been defiled."

The pupil, who hails from Chebarus a neighbouring village in Tinderet, is suspected to have been lured by the teacher to meet her in the said private place

"We are set to arraign him in Kapsabet Law Courts once we are done with our investigations. Any act against a minor won't be tolerated," Omulo stated.
