The bodies of two children aged 13 and 12 years, who went missing on June 30 and July 8 respectively, were on Tuesday night found dumped near Kabete Approved School.

A key suspect, Masten Milimu Wanjala 20, who had been arrested earlier led the detectives to the scene where decomposing bodies were found.

The deceased children have been identified as Charles Opindo Bala, 13 and Mutuku Musyoka, 12.

Detectives from the Buruburu Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the scene and conducted forensic analysis and also took photos of the scene.

Nairobi Region police commander Augustine Nthumbi said they were yet to establish the motive of the killing.

“The suspect could have been together with other people. We are working hard to know if there were other players in this murder. We are investigating a murder incident,” he said.

Police suspect the man may have made demands to the families of the children and was not working alone.

Cases of kidnapping have been on the rise but police say they are on top of things. In some incidents, victims have been killed while others were rescued by police.

According to Missing Child Kenya, 73 children initially missing are now in government homes for safe care and custody, 496 others already found and reunited with families while 190 children are still missing.

Missing Child Kenya is a community-led portal that works with organizations and individuals in the child protection sector and the public to help share information on missing children using various media platforms and increase search efforts at no cost to the affected families.
