DCI officer who was attacked in Nairobi dies a day after being discharged from hospital

A Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer, who was attacked by thugs in Kayole on Wednesday, has succumbed to the injuries

Constable Andrew Mithika Kaura was attached to DCI Mandera East. Kaura was on leave when he was attacked by robbers at Kayole Sokoni area.

The robbers waylaid and attacked Kaura while he was walking to his residence at around 8pm.

During the attack, he sustained head and chest injuries and was also robbed of his two phones, and other personal belongings.

Kaura’s wife took him to Kayole Hospital where he was treated and discharged.

However, on Friday at around 9pm, his condition deteriorated, and he passed away in his house before he could be taken to hospital.

The deceased officer, a Crime Scene expert, joined the service in 2002 and has worked in several stations.

Kaura’s body was transferred to the Kenyatta University mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

Detectives have launched investigations into the attack and are tracking down the suspects.
