The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has asked members of the public for information that could lead to the arrest of suspects accused of killing a teacher who was invigilating Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams and a police officer in Mahero, Siaya County.

According to authorities, of the five, three were involved in the November 20, 2023, killings while the rest are part of the gang that has also been terrorising businessmen in Siaya, Kisumu, Busia and Nairobi counties.

They are- Edward Wanyama alias Ramadhan who was the mastermind in the murder, Edwin Omondi nicknamed Rashid, Simon Ochieng alias (Ali Baba/Hassan/Obas), Hastings Omondi Odipo alias (Martin/Umar) and Salim Jackoyo.

DCI said the suspects escaped a police dragnet on November 22, 2023, at Nina village.

“The police is appealing to members of the public to share any information to the nearest police station or through the free hotline number 0800722203 to report anonymously about the presence of the individuals in their localities,” DCI wrote on its official X account.

The detectives stated they have extended investigations to the neighbouring counties with the help of INTERPOL.
