President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed all Cabinet Secretaries to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The announcement was made by President Kenyatta’s Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita on Friday, March 26 on Twitter.

Waita said the move will help in influencing Kenyans to embrace the AstraZeneca Vaccine, which has attracted mixed reviews.

“As the Government scales up the roll out of the national COVID-19 Vaccine program, H.E the President has directed his entire Cabinet and Executive Office to lead by example and get the jab! Received mine this morning under the watchful guidance of the @MOH_Kenya vaccination team,” said Waita on micro-blogging site, Twitter.

The announcement comes a day after Cabinet met on Thursday, March 25.

AstraZeneca has an efficacy rate of 76 per cent, which is a decline from the initial reported efficacy rate of 79 per cent, the BBC reported on Thursday.
