Locals from Muruli Nyorotisi in Likuyani sub-county are in pain after an unknown gang that is said to have specialized in stealing and slaughtering cows invaded the area for meat.

According to one of the locals, Simon Wamukota the notorious gang steals cows, slaughters them in maize plantations and take off with legs and soft meat which residents say are used to prepare mutura.

“We suspect that they use the legs to boil soup and the soft meat to make mutura for drunkards in our local Matunda Township.”

The locals have narrated how they have lost more than 30 cows in the recent past with the latest being a bull worth approximately ksh80,000 which the assailants stole from a local farmer Dickson Makokha.

The incident was confirmed by the local administration led by area headman John Ng’ang’a. “We have tried our best to curb the vice in vain and have resorted to prayers and mark my words when we catch up with them, they will serve as an example to others,” he said.
