COVID-19 updates: 142 more test positive,18 succumb

Kenya has recorded 142 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

Health CS, Mutahi Kagwe in a statement, confirmed the total number of cases in the country now stands at 171,226.

The new cases are from a sample size of 2,650, recording a positivity rate of 5.4 percent.

Kagwe noted that the cumulative tests now stand at 1,818,416.

18 more patients succumbed bringing the country's fatalities to 3,206.

A total of 1,251 patients currently admitted to various hospitals across the country. Another, 4,705 patients are on the home-based care programme.

92 patients are in ICU, out of which 21 are on ventilatory support.

In addition, a total of 90 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 84 are in general wards and six in the HDU.

The country's total recoveries have risen to 117,039 after another 16 patients have recovered from the disease out of which seven were from the Homebased care program while nine were discharged from various health facilities.
