Covid-19 Update: 1,183 test positive as positivity rate stands at 14.5%

The Ministry of Health has reported that 1,183 people have tested positive for the Corona virus disease.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 10, MOH said the 1, 183 persons were tested from a sample size of 8,144 in the last 24 hours bringing the positivity rate to 14.5%.

Total confirmed positive cases are now 213,756 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,205,159.

From the 1,183 positive cases, MOH says 1,123 are Kenyans while 60 are foreigners. MOH further said that 593 are female while 590 are male.

"The youngest is a two-month-old infant while the oldest is 98 years. Total confirmed positive cases are now 213, 756 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2.205,159," MOH said.

As of today, MOH says that 1,318 patients have so far recovered from the disease with 1,212 patients coming from Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 106 are from various health facilities countrywide.

Total recoveries, MOH says, now stand at 198,786 out of which 159,273 are from Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 39,513 are from various health facilities.

Unfortunately, 32 patients have succumbed to the disease, one of them having occurred in the last 24 hours while 31 are late deaths.

MOH said that a total of 1, 827 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide while 8,529 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

135 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 60 of whom are on ventilatory support and 68 on supplemental oxygen.

Another 609 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 673 of them in general wards and 36 in High Dependency Units (HDU).
