The High Court in Eldoret has issued prohibitory order restraining the IEBC from concluding the enhanced voter registration exercise tomorrow till November 9 when the inter-party hearing will take place.

Through activist Patrick Cherono a resident of Uasin Gishu county, the petitioner had asked the court to extend the enhanced voter registration exercise for 90 more days but the court instead granted him 7 more days pending the inter-party hearing.

The petitioner argues that most Kenyans haven't registered and the time given for the registration is limited due to IEBC underfunding.

Through Justice Eric Ogolla, the court has directed the petitioner through his lawyer Kaira Nabasenge to serve IEBC and the National Assembly who are the respondents in the case with the prohibitory order before the date for inter-party hearing.

This means that the enhanced registration will have to continue for the next 7 days pending final determination of the petition.
