Magistrate's court in Kibera, on Friday, March 11, 2022, momentarily issued a warrant of arrest against Cheryl Murgor and Stephanie Murgor, popularly known as the Murgor sisters, for skipping a court session in a case where they were to be charged with affray and assault.

Their lawyer Philip Murgor thereafter presented himself in court and requested that the warrant be lifted; a request that was later granted.

According to a charge sheet and court proceedings report in our possession, the sisters; Cheryl and Stephanie alongside three others were to appear before the court at 12:00 pm to take plea but they never showed up prompting magistrate William Tulel to issue a warrant of arrest.

The others to be charged are Munyra Mohammed, Samuel Dennis Ramdas, and Patrick Kipngetich Koech.

The defence counsel Philip Murgor moved to the trial court in the afternoon (2:30 pm) seeking to lift the warrant on grounds that his clients were not aware of the case before court.

“We are surprised with the charge before court. My clients were not bonded to appear in court. Accused One is a Qatar Airways employee, therefore, she cannot pick calls, " Murgor argued.

After going through his submission, the magistrate lifted the warrant of arrest but issued fresh summons to the accused persons to appear in court on March 22, 2022, to plead to affray and assault charges.

According to the charge sheet tabled in court, the five are alleged to have committed the offence on the night of October 16, 2021, and October 17, 2021, in Langata sub-county within Nairobi County where they allegedly fought each other while at the reception of Emara Ole Sereni hotel, which the prosecutor says is a public place.

In Count Three, Samuel Dennis Ramdas is alleged to have assaulted Edward Wanyoike Mbugua.

The Ndichu brothers; Paul and Eddie have already pleaded not guilty to the charge of assaulting the Murgor sisters and four other people.

They are out on a cash bail of Ksh100,000.

The five are facing three counts of affray and assault causing actual bodily harm
