A woman who was allegedly thrown off a building in Nairobi by her boyfriend was heard screaming for help, a Nairobi court was told on Tuesday.

John Katavi, head of security at Ambank building within the CBD, told Milimani Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu that Eunice Wangari cried for help after she fell from the 12th floor to the 9th floor of a building.

“The accused came to me saying that a woman has fallen down and requested we go and help her. We rushed there and found her in pain," he said.

He added that when asked who had thrown her off the veranda, Kitavi said the woman said it was her boyfriend.

Kitavi was testifying in a case where Moses Njoroge is charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Wangari on September 13, 2020.

He added that the woman looked drunk at that time judging from how she was talking.

"Njoroge was at the scene and has an office at the building and the windows are big and have no grills.

"The window is wide and if leaned on, someone can fall down. I called the control room for backup and police from central came to the scene and took over the matter”, the court heard.

On cross-examination, the witness said he did not see the woman fall.

“I can't say the accused pushed the woman down because there's no CCTV at the veranda”, Kitavi said.

In March, Wangari narrated to the court how her boyfriend, who she met on Facebook, threw her from the 12th floor to the 9th floor in a city building after she refused to spend the night with him.

Wangari told the court that Njoroge had invited her to Ambank house 12th floor in Nairobi CBD.

Wangari, who spend two months at KNH for treatment, told the court that on September 13, 2020, she travelled from her home in Karura to Nairobi CBD to meet her boyfriend.

She said Njoroge told her to visit him at Ambank house where the office of the accused person was situated.

The accused picked her at Ambank house reception and took her to the 12th floor, they spend time there before going out for lunch.

They went to Simbiza hotel where they bought two pieces of chicken and chips and then proceeded to Naivas supermarket Moi Avenue where they bought whisky and soda before heading back to the office.

They enjoyed the drinks until 7:30 pm when Wangari decided to leave for home.

Njoroge allegedly opposed the idea of her leaving as he wanted to spend the night with her.

They allegedly started arguing and fighting and in the process, Wangari fell through the window.

The incident left her with an injury on her pelvic bone leading to her admission to KNH for treatment.

The hearing continues on June 15.
