Confirmed cases of coronavirus in Democratic Republic of Congo have passed the 1,000 mark with the capital, Kinshasa, being the hot spot of infections.

The virus has now spread to seven out of the country's 26 provinces.

The total confirmed cases are now 1024 cases, according to health authorities, Kinshasa accounting for 938 cases.

The country reported its first case on 10 March.

Both Houses of Parliament last week approved a second extension of the state of a health emergency for another 15 days.

President Félix Tshisekedi declared the emergency on 24 March to curb the spread of the virus.
