A cop attached to Kapsabet Police Station in Nandi County is nursing injuries at Nandi Hills Sub-County Hospital after he accidentally shot himself injuring his right leg.

The incident occurred following the confrontations between members of the public and cops who were offering security to Pharmacy and Poison Board officers during their inspection of various clinics and chemists in Nandi Hills town.

During the operation, the residents questioned why the officers had arrested Celestine Jepchirchir a herbalist in Nandi Hills town yet she had all legal documents of her work.

"They just came here in a black vehicle. They didn't even tell me who are they and pushed me towards their vehicle as they carry my box full of drugs. The residents screamed for my safety," Jepchirchir said.

"There were a lot of screams and confusion here as the residents were trying to find out what had happened," Emmanuel Chemogos, a resident, said.

The officer was rushed to Nandi Hills hospital for first aid and treatment following the bleeding on his leg.

Nandi East Police Commander Walter Abondo confirmed the incident.

"The officer is under medication and in stable condition," he said.
