A police officer was on Wednesday nabbed by his colleagues after he conned a civilian in a ksh2.5 million car deal.

Details of how James Akoru lost the money in the Toyota Land cruiser deal to the officer identified as Elijah Thumbi can now be revealed.

In a report seen by K24 Digital, the officer deceived Akoru that he was in a position to help him import the vehicle.

“The officer told Akoru that he was in a position to import the motor vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado model TZG,” the report read in part.

Akoru then sent ksh2.5 million to the accused's bank account which was the cost of importing the car.

The officer, however, did not honour the deal and never delivered the vehicle.

In addition, he also refused to refund the money back to Akoru.

The officer’s file has was forwarded to the Office of Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) for perusal and advice.

It was later recommended that the officer be charged before court for the offence.

The officer is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday next week for the offence of obtaining money by false pretences.
