Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu caused a stir after she refused to flag off vehicles delivering medical and non-medical supplies in her county claiming the vehicles were not well branded.

The medical supplies from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KKEMSA) were supposed to be delivered to Kitui residents on Monday, September 27.

In her statement, Ngilu said the essential supplies will be delivered tomorrow after proper branding of the vehicles ferrying the cargo.

"No. This is unacceptable. Hii ni mali ya watu wa Kitui wamenunua na pesa zao. Si pesa ya KEMSA,” Ngilu was overheard saying.

According to the governor, Kitui county spent millions of shillings in purchasing the medical supplies, arguing that the branding of the vehicles did not match the expected monetary value.

Governor Ngilu wants the 17 tracks carrying the medical supplies branded with banners written ‘Kitui County’.
