Molo Deputy County Commissioner Josephat Mutisya has confirmed a case in Kahua village, Kapsita sub-location where a 45-year-old man is said to have killed his wife and three children by setting their house ablaze.

According to Mutisya, police received a report that a house was burnt down and upon rushing to the scene, the officers found the man who is the main suspect raising alarm by screaming.

"We received a report around 12:00 am that there was a house which was burnt down and when police rushed to the scene, they found the main suspect of the crime who is also the owner of the house screaming and raising alarm," Mutisya said.

Newton Ratemo, a neighbour who spoke to journalists said they were unable to intervene and save the lives of the woman and her three children after the house went up in flames prompting them to call for the help of police officers.

The Deputy County commissioner linked the Thursday morning inferno to a domestic quarrel between the husband and his wife advising locals who are troubled in their marriages to seek the guidance of religious leaders instead of taking matters into their own hands.

"If it was troubling thoughts which led the man to burn down his house with his wife and three children inside, we will get to know once our officers conclude the investigations. However, I urge residents to speak out if they have any problems at home. I urge them to speak to relatives, religious leaders and any other persons who can be of help," Mutisya said.

The scene of the unfortunate incident was processed by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations while the main suspect is in police custody.
