Concern as man is charged for refilling gas cylinders of other brands in Embakasi, Nairobi

A Kenyan has been charged with illegally refilling Liquid Petroleum Gas, (LPG) gas cylinders of other brands without authority of the owners contrary to the law.

A Kenyan has been charged with illegally refilling Liquid Petroleum Gas, (LPG) gas cylinders of other brands without authority of the owners contrary to the law.

A man has been charged with illegally refilling Liquid Petroleum Gas, (LPG) gas cylinders of other brands without authority of the owners contrary to the law.

It is alleged that Abdi Maalin Ali with others before the court was found to have filled 29 cylinders of Total gas, Hashi gas, Supa gas, Oil Libya and Lake gas at Salama Gas Limited storage and refilling facility at Embakasi area within Nairobi county on May 26, 2021 without authority from brand owners.

The accused faces a total of two counts ,in the second count he is charged with trading and dealing with L.P.G cylinders of another licensee for gain without authority.

He is charged alongside Mustafa Adan Ibrahim who has already been charged in court. 

"Abdi Maalin Ali you are charged that on 26th May 2021at Salama Gas storage and filling facility in Embakasi jointly with others before court you were found dealing with both filled and empty L.P.G gas cylinders for gain without prior written consent from the licensed owners in contravention of the law,” the charge sheet read in part.

He pleaded not guilty before Principal Magistrate David Ndugi. 

His lawyer pleaded for leniency. The court will make a ruling for cash-bail tomorrow.
