A family in Kirinyaga is living in distress after one of their kin is allegedly possessed by evil spirits.
A husband only identified as Moses from Rîamata village in Kangai ward of Mwea Constituency told K24 Digital that his wife is possessed by evil spirits and that she has constantly been attacking him and his children for some time now.
Moses revealed that he realised that his wife was possessed by demons after he noticed that she had started exhibiting some weird behaviours.
"A few days ago, I heard screams coming from my home, when I rushed to see what was happening, I found my wife grabbing my daughter's neck," he said.
"When I asked her what was happening, she told me that there was a snake in our daughter's neck and she was trying to squeeze it out," he added.
He confronted the wife about the matter and hoped that the matter had been resolved. The incident was, however, the beginning of drama within his homestead.
In the subsequent days, Moses claimed that his wife turned on him and started strangling him at night on several occasions.
"I could hardly breathe once she started strangling me. She only stopped when I started praying," Moses who had visible marks on his neck narrated.
He said that the unfortunate events at his home has forced him to carry the Bible everywhere he goes both at night and during the day fearing that if he keeps the Holy Book away from him, the demons might attack him.
Moses said that he has since invited a local preacher at his home to pray for them.
At the time of our interview, the wife was being prayed for in a room not far away from where we were.
We could hear the wife at times condemning the man of God while being prayed for. Sometimes, she could also claim that some evil spirits had hidden in her hair. The preacher has now ordered the woman to cut off her hair and the hair be burnt.
The family has also called on other religious leaders to assist them in praying.
