A civilian on Friday, August 27, stormed Nanyuki police station in Laikipia County and assaulted a police officer as he searched for his estranged wife who is also a cop.

Moses Kibuchi who is the husband of Silviah Wanza broke into the police lines as he searched for his wife who left their home and went back to live within the station due to constant disagreements in the family.

“He broke into the police line Block 5D through the sitting room window and broke the window panes completely as he looked for his wife. He managed to gain entry into the house,” the report read in part.

As soon as he gained access into the house, he started assaulting Geoffrey Mureithi a police officer and another man.

According to the report, Kibuchi injured the duo on the head and completely destroyed a phone which belongs to Mureithi.

Equally, as he was trying to gain access into the house of the officer, the civilian was injured in the hands and head.

The report further revealed that Kibuchi also had destroyed the window panes of the house but his estranged wife Wanza escaped unhurt.

“The assailant was thereafter arrested and escorted to Nanyuki Hospital where he is currently admitted,” the report said.

The scene was immediately preserved for further processing.

It has emerged that the couple; Kibuchi and Wanza have been living together outside the police lines but due to constant threats, disagreement and violence, the lady moved out of the marital home and went back to the police lines for shelter and security.

This comes just months after Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i encouraged police officers to get married to civilians.

Dr Matiang’i gave the advice after it emerged that police officers who are married to each other had ended up killing themselves due to disagreements.
