Chopper, posh cars punctuate Kivuti’s arrival in Embu town for IEBC clearance

Former Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti has been cleared to run for Embu gubernatorial seat on Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP) party ticket.

Kivuti, who doubles up as DEP Chairman, stunned Embu town when he arrived for Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in a chopper.

The former senator, who is also a renowned businessman in the county, made some rounds on the air with his supporters waving before landing at Kangaru primary school.

Awaiting him on the school grounds were several posh cars ready to ferry him for a date with IEBC officials.

His supporters, who had camped at the gate of the institution where the IEBC officials were conducting the clearance exercise, sang songs praising their preferred candidate.

Kivuti's promises

After clearance, Kivuti said he was going to partner with Embu county residents to see the development that they have been agitating for realised.

He also warned his opponents against vandalizing his campaign materials.

"Let's do peaceful campaigns. Those destroying my posters should stop," Kivuti said.

Kivuti will be facing Cecily Mbarire (UDA), Emilio Kathuri (Jubilee), and Njagi Kumantha (DP).

Kivuti was accompanied by his wife Hilda Kivuti among other leaders.
