About 70 enumerators in Kanamai, Kilifi South have take to the streets demanding payment of their allowances.

The census staff downed their tools on Monday at about 4pm, vowing not to resume listing of persons in the ongoing 2019 census.

They said they resorted to a strike after being informed enumerators in other areas had been paid.

The census staff are demanding payment of Sh2,100 training allowances each, a figure they should have received before the 2019 census kicked off.
