A new police report has revealed that Ngong Police Station OCS Philip Olenkindi was shot during a night scuffle with a Senate Sergeant at Arms and Recce officer inside a police canteen.

Earlier on Thursday, K24 Digital reported that the OCS was shot by four suspected armed robbers on Tuesday night while on patrol with other officers namely; Benard Simiyu, Edward Rotich and CPL Mutuma within Kahara area.

However, a follow-up report on the shooting and injury of the OCS has revealed that the OCS was shot during a scuffle inside the Traffic Training School police Canteen (PTC).

According to the new report, the OCS and three of his men were involved in an argument with a Senate official and a Recce company officer. In the process, Kilimo was shot while the Recce official was assaulted, the report states.

"It was then established that the scuffle was between the OCS, IP Shamala, PC Simiyu and PC Evans Onyari verses Onesmus Ruto Recce officer also sports officer who resides at the PTC and Onesmus Kilimo a staff working with Senate Assembly as Sergeant at Arms," the statement read.

The police report further stated that Kilimo, a Sergeant at Arms at the Senate also claims to be a licensed firearm holder.

"After the commotion there were gun shot sounds heard on the said night of 15/06/2021 though no cartridge recovery however the firearms of the OCS, PC Simiyu, PC Rotich, Cpl Mutuma and Cpl drv Elimlim all of Ngong police station who were mentioned in the initial report were kept aside for ballistic analysis also Ceska pistol serial No. B609292 with ten rounds belonging to Onesmus Kilimo Sergeant at Arms staff at the Senate was detained today on 17/06/2021 permit yet to be recovered as he alleges the same to be in his office," the report revealed.

According to the report, Kilimo who is a Staff at the Senate alleges that during the scuffle he was being shot at by the OCS and that he defended himself by firing one shot. He also alleges he sustained injuries on his legs and arms while rolling down.

"PC Ruto of Recce Company also alleges he was assaulted by police officers at the Canteen. OCS still admitted at Nairobi West in stable condition and yet to record his statement. SCCIO dealing. Case PUI," the report stated.
