Transport on the busy Kitale-Eldoret Road was paralysed on Friday morning (February 19) as hundreds of residents barricaded the route, demanding justice for a boy allegedly sodomised by a police officer in Matunda, Uasin Gishu County.

The protesters alleged that a cop attached to Matunda Police Station recently sodomised a 16-year-old boy, but no action was taken against him despite a report being filed at the police post where he works.

As a result, residents took to the streets early Friday demanding that Matunda OCPD initiates arrest against the alleged sexual abuser.

“We have attempted to seek a medical report confirming the boy had been sodomised, but the police officers from Matunda have been frustrating our efforts,” said one of the protesters.

A relative calm, however, resumed mid-morning after police promised prompt action against the suspect.
