Shock has engulfed Noonkopir area in Kitengela. Kajiado county after a man believed to be a boda boda rider was found dead next to a stone crusher.
Kitengela OCS David Shani, while confirming the incident, noted that the man may have been killed elsewhere and his body dumped at the scene.
He also alleged that the victim's killers may have made away with his motorbike.
Witnesses who spoke to a local publication struggled to identify the deceased, however, some were able to identify him by one name.
OCS Shani assured residents that police will thoroughly investigate the matter and bring the culprits to book.
He also called on witnesses to help police with information that will enable them to apprehend the killers of the victim.
"We have just begun our investigations, but our preliminary reports indicate the killers were after the dead man's motorbike. We are calling upon members of the public who could have witnessed the killing happening to assist us with such information," Shani stated.
Residents in the area have decried insecurity in the region and appealed to authorities to tighten security in the area.
OCS Shani, while admitting to the residents' security concern, noted that police are responding to the matter.
He also reiterated that the residents should effectively work with police to help curb insecurity in the area.
"Although we have brought down the crime rate in the whole of Kitengela, we still have small pockets of crime which we are dealing with," Shani added.
Police say the body of the deceased was moved to Kitengela sub-county hospital pending identification by relatives.
