Twitchers in the UK have been celebrating a cuckoo which has migrated 4,000 miles (about 6,500km) in a record seven days.

The bird, named Carlton II by British scientists, travelled from Ivory Coast in West Africa to the east of England in the UK.

Paul Stancliffe, from the British Trust for Ornithology, told the BBC's Newsday programme that it was a journey that would usually take several weeks as migrating birds tend to take a break after crossing the Sahara desert.
