A 37-year-old man from Musikoma Village in Kanduyi Constituency, Bungoma County on Tuesday night committed suicide after his wife allegedly eloped with another man.

The man said to be a teacher at St. Charles Khalaba Secondary School in Mumias killed himself by hanging from a men’s belt tied to the roof of his house.

It is alleged that the now-deceased discovered that his wife of eight years had gotten into a relationship with another man.

The man allegedly felt betrayed by his spouse, who works as a teacher at a Bungoma secondary school. The now-deceased reportedly paid for his wife’s education at Maseno University, and had planned his long-term future with her.

The man’s wife graduated from university recently, and allegedly eloped with her lover, shortly thereafter.

The deceased was moved to Bungoma County Referral Hospital morgue.

The couple share a child together.
