Government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has taken a swipe at Kenyan youths for not actively participating in political processes.

Oguna has told the youth folk that they are the ones who will decide who the fifth president of Kenya will be.

He advised them against resorting to being anonymous on social media and specializing in lamentations and complaints against the government of the day.

"The fifth President of the Republic of Kenya will be decided by the youth. Choosing to remain anonymous on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook as keyboard warriors, specializing in lamentations and being negative on whatever the issue, from the comfort of one's bedroom or couch is not how to make a difference," he said.

Oguna's statement comes in the backdrop of a revelation by officials of the Independent Elections and Boundaries Commission.

The officials of the electoral body, while appearing virtually before a parliamentary committee, revealed that youths were reluctant to register as voters during the recently concluded mass voter registration.

The commissioners stated that the youth folk told them that they saw no value in registering as voters or of taking part in the general elections.
