The Building Bridges Steering Committee has postponed all public engagements in honour of former President Daniel Moi.

Joint secretary Paul Mwangi said in a statement that the task force has decided to call off all the scheduled public engagements, which had been advertised.

"...This is in honour of the late former President of the Republic of Kenya His Excellency Daniel Toroitich arap Moi," read the statement by Mwangi.

He said the team would announce new dates for the public engagement.

The committee also expressed its condolences to the family of Moi and the nation.

The taskforce had scheduled to start its validation hearings today at the Kenya International Convention Centre in Nairobi.

The taskforce had invited diverse representation from all citizens and had urged the public to attend the meetings.

The KICC meetings were to be followed by other forums in different regions come March on dates that were to be communicated later.

The team had called on the organisers of the ongoing BBI forums to respect the freedom of expression of all participants.
