A family in Kuikui, Baringo North, on Tuesday, September 27 gathered to mourn the death of John Kisoi a police officer who was killed by bandits in Turkana East on Saturday, September 24.

Kisoi was among seven officers who were in pursuit of suspected Pokot bandits who raided a village in Turkana East and made away with livestock.

The father of four was in the line of duty when suspected bandits laid an ambush and shot at them.

According to his brother, Nelson Soi, the officer made a call informing him that he was coming home for leave, and a day later, they received the bad news of his demise.

"We tried reaching out to him moments later at around noon, but in vain. Someone then picked up the call saying that Kisoi had gone for a security operation in Turkana leaving behind his phone. Our hearts were not at peace, little did we know that he had breathed his last while on duty.

"This has hit our hearts so bad. We are calling upon the government to intervene on the matter and I pray that may the relevant authorities consider employing one of the family members as he was the family breadwinner," Soi said.

Phylis Reirimoi, sister-in-law to the deceased regretted that the officer left behind a very young family with four children with nothing left behind for them.

"Bring sanity to these war-prone zones. We're tired of losing our very own to bandits," she said.
